Are you in the Jackee Appreciation club? you know what to do…
I think by now we have all seen the viral posts that are going around regarding Ekaterina Zigunova and her “safaris” where she and others will hunt gay men online and trap and torture them.
Fucking vile, I know. Nearly as vile as how the Russian government are not doing anything, even with hundreds of videos of torture online.
As much as I would love to see this woman imprisoned for the rest of her life for torture, I can’t help but wonder if our LGBT gaze is being shifted.
I get the feeling as LGBTs that we have the tendency to have a 5 minute focus, I have all seen you post about the Olympics and it’s effect on the LGBT community and I hate to be that bitch, but these homophobic attacks were happening long before the Olympics so I have to question why now? why is it that now that we are focusing more on Russia’s attack on the LGBT community and no longer on the Olympics?
I think instead of focusing on the separate issues Russia has with the LGBT community, we should focus on Russia in general as a country spreading hate crimes.
I don’t feel like signing a petition to ask the United Nations to get this bitch to stop will actually do anything. I don’t know how many endless petitions I have signed which only 10% of them actually end in some positive outcome for the gay community.
Every minority has had it’s struggles, but for the LGBT community we have had our journey stretched out.
Even though there are rights for women, sexism is still a huge problem, even though ethnic minorities have had their struggles, there is no laws separating anyone of colour from doing a job even though racism still exists yet the LGBT community still don’t have the rights of other minorities and the longer we allow this to happen, the longer people will use our minority as a way of masking other political agendas.
I’m tired. I’m fucking tired actually. I’m fucking tired of people using the LGBT community as a whipping dog. We are strong, We are the politicians and the doctors, we are the ones comforting your wives or fucking your husbands, we are just like you, our skin doesn’t bleed pink blood. Isn’t it about time that the world just accepted that the LGBT community isn’t some whimsical notion and trend.
We should, of course, be taking action against this vile bitch, but we should not then lose focus on what is important, to humiliate Putin to the point where he has to agree that the LGBT community deserves rights and to live a happy life like any other person. I am pretty sure in 2 weeks time somewhere else in the world there will be someone getting their rights ripped from them and we will all jump on them. But what about the LGBT communities in certain parts of Africa where death penalty is in place?
Have we forgotten about the corners of the world where being tortured to death for being LGBT has been a reality for a long time? Why are we not pressuring these leaders too?
I think it’s because you don’t care as much as you think you do. You care enough to share a link on facebook, but not to actually do anything more than spread the word. I think it’s about time we did a little more than just spreading links on facebook. If we put our forces together we would be heard and unavoidable and we might just be able to abolish as many anti-LGBT laws as possible.
Too much thinky stuff going on.
